At Michaelchurch we celebrated the festival of Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. The children were excited to find out about Rangoli patterns, which are colourful, symmetrical decorations and Divas, small pots for holding lights that are placed outside homes during Diwali to guide good fortune into their homes. The children learnt about the story behind Diwali and made puppets to retell the story. Parents were then invited in at the end of the day to share their learning and show them what they had created. The Diwali sweets were a particular success with children and adults!
