As a local authority school we are required to teach the National Curriculum but we look for ways to ensure that our teachers deliver the required information in a way that could be easier and more engaging for children to learn. There is mounting evidence from child development experts that children learn best when they have a personal interest in a subject and understand how something they are learning is relevant to other subjects. We also believe our asset as a beautiful, rural school makes utilising the outdoors as an extension to the classroom provides a wonderful benefit to children. Our approach for all children is to make learning fun and real.
Oak Class has been given a serious makeover thanks to some excellent work by Brandon Hall. Gone is the rather dated and, we have to admit, somewhat scruffy, building. We now have a beautifully clad cabin. It really looks fantastic and complements the lovely environment of the school.
