School Dinners

Our delicious and nutritious hot lunches are created freshly on a daily basis by local chef Sarah Hardman.  Sarah owns a successful local bistro, Food for Thought in Peterchurch. All her meals are made using high quality local produce and she uses the same care and attention creating our hot lunches as she does for the dinners in her restaurant. We are very fortunate to have Sarah’s support.

 

A cooked meal is often more nutritious than a packed lunch, which can enable your child to be ready to learn. Often children will eat different foods amongst their peers than they would at home, we would encourage you to allow your children to try a variety meals at school. If children eat healthily at a young age, it will make them more likely to adopt a healthy lifestyle as they get older.

**Remember children in YR, 1 and 2 are entitle to free school meals.**

Snacks, why fruit and vegetables are so great

At Michael Church Escley Primary School we have a fruit only snack policy to help ensure we all stay healthy. Fresh fruit and vegetables are always the best snack choice for your kids – they contain vitamins and minerals, are a good source of fibre and count towards their 5 A Day. Plus, they’re easy to eat on the go!

The BEST drinks

Water and lower-fat milks are always the best choices when it comes to drinks for your kids. Water is a no-sugar thirst quencher. Milk has calcium, which helps keep your child’s body strong and forms part of a healthy, balanced diet.

Cool Milk at School Ltd

Established in 1998, Cool Milk at School Ltd work in partnership with local authorities to supply free and subsidised milk for children in primary, infant, junior and special schools. The scheme includes:
Free milk for under-fives.
– Subsidised milk for children aged 5-11 years.
